Steadfast in Truth-Rylee D.

John says to “love not with words or tongue but with actions and in truth”. Upendo318 serves by this truth. I went on their first ever mission trip and my perspective on how to serve others changed completely. Learning to sit with the community and be present did more for the Kenyan's and myself than I ever thought possible. Upendo318 gives you the opportunity to build relationships within the community which allows you to build trust and see their needs firsthand without coming in with our own agenda. I got to personally see how Boy Child impacted the lives of so many boys of all ages by not only playing soccer, but holding a generation accountable to finishing school. I got to go into a school and share the importance of feminine care to young girls. I got the privilege of hearing stories of families who tend to be overlooked and not helped within their community. I got to see that when given the opportunity to empower themselves they rose above and beyond their circumstances. Upendo318 was able to partner with a family to build a chicken coup and teach how to gain money from it. I was able to see the success it brought their family and how they were able to give back to their community. Upendo318 truly serves in action while remaining steadfast in truth.
